A Fun Weekend

Friday started out a tough day for Grace. Just before lunch we were at my sister's house and when she reached out to pet one of her dogs he growled at her and jumped off of the couch. When he jumped he his head hit just below her right eye, leaving her with a swollen eye. It scared us all, I thought he had bitten her when it happened. Then just a little bit later I caught Grace standing on top of Ellie's crate (seems like a dog thing going on). I told her to get down and when she bent to get down she fell off the crate head first. I felt so terrible, like I caused that one. I should have just walked over and put her on the floor. Hindsight is 20/20.

Every spring businesses in my town sponsor a mini-carnival with free rides for all the kids. My sister and I made plans to take Grace after her nap on Friday. I was a little skeptical about taking her after the morning's excitement. Our track record for the day wasn't too good. I wanted to avoid a carnival mishap. However we went as planned and had a pretty good time. The carnival is mainly for school age kids, so she could only ride the carousel and the swings. She looks so sad in the photos. She most enjoyed the $20 in cheap blow up crap she won at the duck pond. You can't have too many plastic trumpets.

On Saturday we went to Reilly's house and had a great time. Reilly is such a sweetie and is just one of those kids you love being around. At one point during the day Grace asked my friend Karen to play some music. Karen asked her what kind of music she liked. She immediately said "rock and roll!" One of the highlights of her day was playing the piano.

I ♥ Faces Amateurs - Spring/Easter

I took this photo last spring right after I got my "big girl" camera. I love the light and shadows and how Grace is really soaking up the sun. Check out all the other talented people at I ♥ Faces.

Happy Easter!!

We had a wonderful Easter. It is always nice being with family. This morning's service was wonderful and it is always nice to see the church full. I wish it were like that every Sunday. We have a wonderful church family, everyone is so caring and I feel blessed to have them in my life. In addition to all the loot she got from "the Bunny" and family, she left church with three Easter baskets.

I have been so proud of Grace and her awareness of Christian holidays. I want her to enjoy Santa and the Easter Bunny without losing the reason for the celebration and joy. She ADORES Santa and still is singing Jingle Bells. She was Miss Christmas and is still celebrating even though it is April. In spite of her love of the bright lights and Santa she would always tell you that Christmas is Jesus' birthday.

I wanted her to enjoy all the candy and fun while still knowing that Easter is about Jesus. Since resurrection is a bit much for a 2 1/2 year old, we said that Easter is Jesus' special day. She would always tell you that when you asked her...until today. I wanted to show my sister how smart Grace was so I said "tell Aunt Terri whose special day is Easter." She shouted happily "THE BUNNY!!!"

Just like last Easter she loves that crazy duck with the bunny ears. Sadly it sound really sick and I doubt it will be around next year.

Don't they look so sweet in their blue outfits? He is sooooo white. I am so used to Grace's skin that he looks so pale.

Isn't he adorable in his little hat?

Fun with Friends

Today Karen and Reilly came to visit. Karen is one of my oldest and dearest friends. Her daughter Reilly is one year younger than Grace. Reilly is just the sweetest, friendliest little girl and was the perfect guest. Grace was less than perfect in the hostess department. She isn't used to sharing her room and toys with someone else and it was hard at first. Reilly would get a toy and Grace would grab for it immediately. She was much nicer when we went to Nanny's house. She shared like a big girl and even let Reilly ride Trigger.

Grace got tired of my multiple attempts to get the cute picture on the horse.
